Dr Vigours is a medical advisor and senior research fellow with the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) at the University of Technology Sydney.

He has extensive experience providing in-depth analyses and advice on evaluations for the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Medical Services Advisory Committee (MSAC), and Singapore’s Agency for Care Effectiveness (ACE).

He also has a comprehensive understanding of the evaluation of clinical trial design, and how research outputs may be communicated to stakeholders and applied to the Australian population, with a unique perspective on how doctors, nursing staff, administration and policymakers may be aligned to produce optimum patient care and translate medical research into real-world outcomes.

Dr Vigours also reviews clinical trial designs for the Cancer Australia Cancer Research Economics Support Team (CREST), and authored a range of reviews for the PBAC, including the Review of the Discount Rate, and authored the topics on pharmaceutical price negotiations and funding decision-making in the Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Review.

Dr Vigours is a Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Activity Grant Assessment Committee member, where he reviews applications for National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) funding.

Dr Vigours is also an active researcher in climate change and healthcare, currently working on a project partnered with NSW Health investigating clinical care processes that mitigate environmental damage, and is the chief investigator in a funded project aiming to assuage extreme heat-related injuries in older Australians.
